Ada Lovelace Day tribute to Emer Colleran

Today is Ada Lovelace Day.

Augusta Ada King (Ada Lovelace) – the self-styled “poetical scientist and analyst”.

Suzi Gage asked me to write a note for The Guardian on an inspirational woman in science.

In the piece, which you can find HERE, I’ve included Professor Emer Colleran, the former Chair of Microbiology at NUI Galway.

Prof Emer Colleran

Emer inspired countless students and was an important figure in the field of environmental microbiology, especially for the application for biological waste conversion and bioenergy production.

Bioenergy and ecosystems microbiology is now one of the strongest areas of research in the University.
