Day 2, Week 3, Irish Times: Eat up your broccoli kids, you might need it later

Today, I finished up a report on new research from the University of East Anglia showing eating broccoli might slow down the onset of arthritis. I interviewed the new Arthritis Ireland Chair of rheumatology at University College Dublin to get an Irish perspective and he explained that his new research team will focus on the epigenetics of arthritis. He explained that people’s environments – and their epigenome – can have a significant influence on the genetic regulation of diseases, such as arthritis.

Heading to bed now – late night trying to get some decks cleared for the day-job and for teaching next week. Still just three days left in the newsroom, so hope to make the most of the rest of this week.
